Falz Biography<\/span><\/h2>\n

Folarin Falana<\/b> Popularly well known as <\/span>Falz <\/b>(Falz the Bad Guy) is a Nigerian rapper, songwriter, and actor,\u00a0 Falz\u2019s childhood dream wasn\u2019t to become a singer. However, things changed while he was in secondary school, leading him to pick up music as a hobby.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a result of his numerous contributions to the world of entertainment, Falz is widely awarded in both acting and singing categories. He owns his own independent record label and has released four studio albums to date.<\/span><\/p>\n

Early Life & Education<\/span><\/h2>\n

Falz was born on the 27th of October 1990 <\/span>in Mushin, Lagos<\/span>. <\/span>He is the son of Femi Falana, a popular Nigerian lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and his mother Funmi Falana.<\/span><\/p>\n

Folarin attended St. Leo\u2019s Catholic Primary School, Ikeja for his Primary Education. Afterward, he proceeded to Olashore International school Osun state, for his secondary school degree.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He graduated from Nigeria Law School in Abuja and was called to bar in 2012. He is also a graduate of the University of Reading, England.<\/span><\/p>\n

Career<\/span><\/h2>\n

Falz <\/span>started his career way back in secondary school after forming a music group known as \u2018<\/span>THE SCHOOL BOYS<\/b>\u201d with his friends that was where he developed his love and passion for music.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2009, Falz dropped his debut mixtape titled \u201c<\/span>Shakara<\/b>\u201d: The Mixtape as a secondary school student.<\/span><\/p>\n

Two years later (2011), Falz Dropped another single titled \u2018<\/span>Waz Up Guy<\/b>\u2019, and he later released \u2018High Class\u2019 and \u2018Currency\u2019.\u00a0 The singles made their way to the music industry and brought little fame for the singer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Falz released his First studio album \u201cWazup Guy\u201d on 30th May 2014. <\/span>which was critically acclaimed by music critics, <\/span>The album consists of 18 tracks including his 2011 single Wazup Guy,\u00a0 He featured artistes like Olamide, Poe, Yemi Alade, Phenom, and Show Dem Camp in the project. <\/span>Some of the tracks are: See Me, Toyin Tomato, Senator, Right Now, Jessica, High Class, Marry Me, Oh God, The Advice, and Cool Parry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Falz shot into Fame in 2015 with his popular single titled \u201c<\/span>Marry Me<\/b>\u201d featuring vocals from Poe and Yemi Alade <\/span>and was subsequently nominated for the Best Collaboration of The Year award at the <\/span>Nigerian Entertainment Awards<\/b> in 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the 31st of January 2015, Falz returned with an official single titled <\/span>\u2018<\/span><\/i>Ello Bae<\/b>\u2019. <\/span><\/i>Actually, it was his first solo effort after the release of <\/span>Wats Up Guy <\/span><\/i>and it won him several awards. Falz was strategic about the launch of the music as it was launched just before the valentine season.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the 3rd of November 2015, Folarin Falz announced the release of his second studio album, titled \u201c<\/span>Stories That Touch<\/b>\u201d, which was released on the 17th of November 2015. <\/span>it contained 16 tracks and 1 bonus single. He featured Chigurl, Oyinkansola, Simi, Reminisce, Sess, Reekado Banks, M.I., Shaydee, and Show Dem Camp.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The tracklist includes Kabiyesi, Soft Work, My People, Karishika, Soldier, Workaholic, Soupe, Time Difference, Mid-Flight, and Announcements, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Falz collaborated with <\/span>Simi<\/span> to release <\/span>Chemi<\/b>str<\/b>y<\/b> on the 27 October 2016, a seven-track <\/span>EP<\/span> (<\/span>\u2018foreign\u2019, \u2018Want To\u2019, \u2018Show You Pepper\u2019, \u2018Cinderella\u2019, \u2018Shake Your Body\u2019 and \u2018Enough\u2019)<\/span> solely produced by Sess. Falz had previously worked with Simi on the singles “<\/span>Jamb Question<\/b>” and “<\/span>Soldier<\/b>“.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Falz Dropped a new album on October 27 titled \u201c<\/span>27<\/b>\u201d to celebrate his 27th Birthday in 2017, The album shocked everyone because there is no hype, No promotion before it was released. It contained 17 tracks including hit singles like “Bhad Baddo Baddest”, “Wehdone sir”, and “Something light”. It featured prominent music acts like <\/span>D<\/span>avido<\/span>, <\/span>Ol<\/span>amide<\/span>, Burna Boy, Wande Coal, Maleek Berry, Sir Dauda, Medikal, Terry Apala, and Ycee.<\/span><\/p>\n

The album was majorly produced by Sess as an in-house producer, with some tracks were done by Maleek Berry and studio magic. The album did very well and it gained several awards and nominations, including a nomination for The <\/span>Headies Award<\/b> for Rap Album of the Year.<\/span><\/p>\n

In May 2018, Falz released another single titled,<\/span> \u2018<\/span><\/i>This is Nigeria<\/b>\u2019. <\/span><\/i>The music video as gathered was inspired by <\/span>Childish Gambino\u2019s<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>\u2018<\/span><\/i>T<\/i><\/b>his Is America\u2019<\/b>, an American actor and comedian. The song listed out the current happenings in Nigeria including bribery and corruption<\/span><\/p>\n

Months later, The song was banned by NBC (National Broadcasting Commission) claiming it was a vulgar song. When Falz was asked, he said<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIf they ban this song, then I do not understand them because that song is definitely not a vulgar song,\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Falz sues NBC for N100 Million.<\/span><\/p>\n

Falz Released another album in 2019 titled <\/span>\u2018<\/span><\/i>Moral Instruction<\/b>\u2019. <\/span><\/i>The album contained nine songs with guest appearances from Demmie Vee, Chillz, and Sees. Interestingly, Falz sampled three of Fela\u2019s songs in the album to buttress the subject matter of his songs. The tracklist includes: Johnny, Follow Follow, Hypocrite, Talk, Amen, Brother\u2019s Keeper, E No Finish and After All Said and Done<\/span><\/p>\n

Personal Life<\/span><\/h2>\n

The entertainment gossip mill was fussing about a possible relationship between the Falz and Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye but the two have severally denied the claim, insisting that they are just friends and have nothing special between them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Though the couple looks cool together and could be easily mistaken for lovers, there\u2019s no substantial evidence to prove they are actually dating or probably seeing each other behind the camera.<\/span><\/p>\n

And while rumor detectives were busy trying to find out if there\u2019s actually chemistry between the singers, Falz took everyone by surprise when he shared on his Instagram page that his \u201creal bae\u201d is Lagos-born singer Chidinma Ekile.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While many believe Falz\u2019s revelation is yet another publicity stunt, others were of the view that the two could possibly be in a serious relationship, considering Falz\u2019s Instagram video which captured him kissing Ekile on her forehead. Ever since the video made its way to the internet, nothing has been heard about the couple and they are yet to confirm if they are an item or not. No doubt, it\u2019s only time that will tell if Falz\u2019s video was actually a publicity stunt or not.<\/span><\/p>\n

Falz Movie Appearances<\/span><\/h2>\n
