Biography<\/h2>\n

Iya Rainbow was born on 16th of October 1942 at Ijebu Ode, in Ogun State. She got her stage name “Iya Rainbow” meaning “Osumare” in Yoruba from the name of the theatre group of Sir Hubert Ogunde, who died in 1990. She studied at Ijebu Ode Ogun State for both her primary and secondary school education. After completing her high school education, she enrolled in a nursing school.\u00a0 Later on, she graduated as a certified nurse and practiced nursing for 20 years, worked as a healthcare assistant in general hospitals in Nigeria for several years and occasionally acted in theatre.<\/p>\n

She went fully into acting after the demise of her husband, Augustine Ayanfemi Phillips , who worked closely with the late patriarch of Nigerian Film Industry Sir Herbert Ogunde. She was 45 years as at that time. She has featured in several Nigerian films, including Apaadi, Eru, and Aje ni iya mi among others.<\/p>\n

In 2017, Idowu traveled to Nigeria to feature in and guard a documentary shot by her son Femi Phillip. The documentary was about Mose Orimolade, the founder of Cherubim and Seraphim.<\/p>\n
