Lamide was born on August 19 in Lagos State<\/a> to Mr Olaoluwa Akintobi<\/strong>, popularly known as “Laolu Akins.”<\/strong> but hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State<\/a>, Nigeria. She had her elementary education in Nigeria but left Nigeria for London after her third year in secondary school and moved to London to complete her secondary education at Archbishop Michael Ramsey<\/strong>, after which she attended Bacon’s College<\/strong>, also in London, for her A-Levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She moved to the U.S. and first attended Volunteer State Community College<\/strong> in Tennessee, where she graduated Summa cum Laude with an AA Degree in Broadcast Journalism & Spanish, where she served as a Student Leader, was a founding member and Vice President of the school’s International Student Association<\/strong>, a Phi Theta Kappa Honours Society member, and a Dean’s List student every semester. Outside of school, she was a volunteer tutor and mentor at “Children are People<\/strong>,\u2019 an after-school program for young black students. After this, she accepted an academic scholarship to Texas A&M University-Commerce<\/strong>, where she was a member of the Pi of Texas Honours Society and pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority<\/strong>, Incorporated, a community service organisation. She graduated from TAMU-C<\/strong> with a B.A. degree in Broadcast Journalism and Spanish (Magna cum laude) and followed that up in 2011 with an M.A. (with Merit) in International Journalism from City University, London<\/strong>, which she attended as a British Council Chevening Scholar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She has worked as a news anchor, producer, and reporter at Channels Television <\/strong>and Television Continental<\/strong>, and was a freelance presenter\/producer at Ebonylife TV<\/a><\/strong>, a Pan-African Entertainment Network. She co-created, co-presented and produced \u201cThe Spot<\/strong>,\u201d one of the channel’s most popular shows until it wrapped in mid-2017. She produced and presented several other programs on the channel, including Classic Moments: True Stories<\/strong>, EL Now<\/strong>, The Calabar Jazz Festival<\/strong>, The Calabar Carnival<\/strong>, With Mikel<\/strong> – a special docu-reality program on Chelsea F.C<\/strong> player, John Mikel Obi<\/strong>, VVIP<\/strong>, and Travel\/Documentary Specials in Rwanda.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n She also hosted\/moderated panels in which she interviewed President Goodluck Jonathan<\/a><\/strong>, President Muhammad Buhari<\/a><\/strong>, and other top government officials. She was the Season 2 host for the TV show \u201cChurch Culture,<\/strong>\u201c produced by Red Media<\/strong>\/YNaija<\/strong> TV <\/strong>and airing on Channels TV<\/strong>, and freelanced for CNN\u2019s Africa<\/strong> Features<\/strong>, producing various shows including Innovate Africa, African Voices, and Inside Africa.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition to this, she has worked on independent programs & documentaries and content acquisition for TV channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She has also served as the editor of Diaspora Quarterly<\/strong>, a quarterly magazine focused on telling the stories of Nigerians in the Diaspora and returnees making a difference in Nigeria. As a believer in community service, Lamide helped establish a presence for the service organization of which she\u2019s a member, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated<\/strong>, in West Africa in 2021. She is a charter member of the West Africa Alumnae Chapter of the sorority and serves as Corresponding Secretary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Lamide is a media & presentation coach, a voice-over artist specialising mostly in IVR, a content consultant, a freelance sub-editor, panel moderator\/event host, and a documentary maker who loves adventure, good food, travel, music, movies, learning new languages (currently Hindi), and reading. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Her relationship status is unknown, and she does not flaunt her relationship life on her social media pages.
