Sam Dede Early Life

The renowned Nigerian award-winning movie actor and Director Sam Dede was born in the ’60s to the family of Pa Dede and Elsie Iyenginabaibo Abel Dede in Lagos, Nigeria.

Born on 17th November 1965, Sam is originally from Ogbodo in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State. Rivers State is a State in the Southern part of Nigeria.

Being a ‘Lagos Boy,’ the movie star had both his elementary and high school education there.

For his University education, Sam studied and bagged a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts from the prestigious University of Port Harcourt (UniPort), Rivers State.

After his National Youth Service (NYSC), Dede returned to the University of Port Harcourt. This time, he studied and bagged a Master’s Degree in Theatre Arts.

Career

Dede started his career in acting as far back as when Nollywood was formed. Plainly, he is one of the pioneers of the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood).

As it were, he has been in the movie industry for more than two decades. ‘Igodo,’ the movie which later became a blockbuster, brought him to the limelight.

Lecturer, Sam Dede is currently a senior lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Port Harcourt. Also, he lectures at the University of Lagos.
