Early Life
Yul Edochie was born in the early 80’s to the family of legendary actor Pete Edochie and his wife Josephine Edochie – a broadcaster – in Anambra State. Anambra State is a state in the South Eastern part of Nigeria.
Precisely, Yul was born on 7th January, 1982. Notably, he was named after a renowned Hollywood star, Yul Brynner.
Yul had his nursery and elementary education in Lilian’s Day Nursery School and Robinson Street Primary School, Enugu respectively.
For his secondary education, he attended Marist Brothers’ Juniorate, Uturu. Notably, Yul started Nursery, elementary and secondary education in 1984, 1986, and 1992 respectively.
After obtaining his West African Senior Certificate results, Yul got admitted into the prestigious University of Port Harcourt. Therein, he studied and bagged a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts.
Career
Yul Edochie joined the movie industry (Nollywood) in 2005. This was shortly after he relocated to Lagos having stayed in Enugu for a while.
When Yul arrived in Lagos, he had no place to lay his head. Nonso Diobi fed and housed him for as long as he chose to stay. Ideally, Yul had come to Lagos to hustle and make ends meet; he didn’t come to Lagos to play apparently, he came to hustle.
He got his first movie role in 2005. In 2007, Yul featured in a Nollywood blockbuster movie alongside some other Nollywood superstars. Shortly after the movie was released, Yul Edochie rose to prominence.
