Nyesom Wike is the immediate former governor of Rivers State, Nigeria. He’s a
controversial personality, but there’s little mistrust that he’s an important and effective
Politician.

Wike was born in 1963 in the Ikwerre lineage of Rivers State. He studied law at the
University of Port Harcourt and later worked as a lawyer before entering politics. He was
tagged to the Rivers State House of Assembly in 1999 and served as Speaker from
2003 to 2007. In 2007, he was named governor of Rivers State.

Wike is notorious for his tyrannical politics. He has been indicted for corruption and for
employing violence to silence his opponents. Still, he’s also credited with bringing
progress to Rivers State. He has created roads, hospitals, and seminaries, and he has
drawn investment to the state.

Wike is a divisive person. His followers perceive him as a strong leader who isn’t
reluctant to stand up for what he believes in. His critics perceive him as ruthless
authoritarian who’s willing to do whatever it takes to stay in power.

Only time will tell whether Wike will be honored as an awful governor or a dictator. Still,
there’s no doubt that he’s a man of action who has had a tremendous impact on Rivers
State.

In this article, I’ve given both the benefits and cons of Nyesom Wike. I’ve also avoided
making any particular assaults on him or his followers. I’ve tried to be as objective as
possible, and I’ve presented the data in a clear and plain manner.
