Odunlade Adekola is a Nigerian actor, producer, director, singer, and film-maker. He gained popularity with his lead role in Ishola Durojaye’s 2003 movie, Asiri Gomina Wa, and has acted in multiple Nollywood movies since then.

Early Life & Education

Odunlade Adekola was born on 31, December 1976 in Abeokuta, Ogun State southwestern Nigeria. Even though he hails from Otun Ekiti, Ekiti state, Born and raised in Lafenwa, Abeokuta by Pastor and Deaconess Adekola. He grew up in a Christian family that is devoted to church activities
He started his education at St John’s Primary School and moved to St. Peter’s College in Abeokuta where he obtained the West Africa school certificate Examination (WAEC). He gained admission to Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (Mapoly) Abeokuta, Ogun state where he earned a National Diploma certificate.
In 2018, Odunlade bagged a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Lagos.

Career

Odunlade Adekola started acting at a very tender age. According to him, whenever any anniversary was to hold in his church, he and his friend named Tunde would request to play jesters, and this request was always granted. He would then write a “script” for a comedy play involving just two characters.
In 1996, his friend introduced him to a theatre group that meets for rehearsals in the neighborhood. Odun was invited and his demo performance got the entire crew endeared to him. In the group, he started learning some ethics and rudiment of the movie industry, until some invited veterans asked him to join a theatre association. Then, in January 1998, he became a bonafide member of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners.
Odunlade Adekola starred in Faworaja (1999) produced by Bolaji Amusan (Mr. Latin). Thereafter, he rose to prominence after featuring as a state Governor in Asiri Gomina Wa (2003). The movie was produced by late Ishola Durojaiye (Alasari).

He has acted, scripted, produced, and directed in several Yoruba films over the years which include Omo Colonel, Aroba, Oro, Sunday Dagboru, Monday omo adugbo, Taxi Driver: Oko Ashewo, Eku Meji, Kurukuru, Sunday gboku gboku, Adura, etc. In December 2015, he marked his entrance into the Nigerian music industry.

Personal Life

Odunlade is married to Ruth Adekola. The couple reportedly met in 2004 in Abeokuta at a vigil organized by Christ Apostolic Church (C.A.C).
The actor later proposed to her after a few months of their meeting. The two finally sealed their love in the presence of their family members and friends in the same year by exchanging marital vows and now the Union is blessed with 4 children.
