Uzezi Oniko (born on February 17, 1986) and Okiemute Oniko (born 27 May 1989), siblings, make up the Nigerian record-producing and songwriting duo Legendury Beatz. Afrobeats, as well as hip hop, reggae fusion, moombahton, and electro house, are all strongly ingrained in their production approach. The critically praised tune “Azonto,” which was sung by afrobeats recording artist and MOBO Award winner Wizkid, was produced by Legendury Beatz in less than a year after the pair started. This generated international headlines in the Nigerian music industry.

Career
The duo’s production followed a straightforward system in which they made beats routed to a specific performer who they hunted for in clubs, award events, etc. without any prior relationships, connections, or recording studio in the music industry. Before they met Weird MC, a female rapper, songwriter, and producer who heard their content in 2009, the system produced minimal success. They collaborated with her to develop an album that has not yet been released, as well as the singles “Happy Day” and “Moving Up.”
The lead track on Brymo‘s second studio album The Son of a Kapenta, “Ara,” was recorded by the duo in 2011. At the 2012 Headies, the song was named Best Recording of the Year. Additionally, during the 2012 Channel O Music Video Awards, the song’s music video took home the Best African Pop prize. Mo’Cheddah, who won the MTV Africa Music Awards, had the song “Ko Ma Roll” produced by the duo.
“Baddest Boy,” the lead track from Empire Mates Entertainment‘s compilation album Empire Mates State of Mind, was produced by the duo in 2012. Chidinma, a recipient of the Kora Awards, had the song “Emi Ni Baller” produced by Legendary Beatz as well. Chidinma set a new record with the song when she became the first female performer to reach the top spot on the MTV Base Official Naija Top 10 list. American rapper Wale and Nigerian singer Wizkid provided the vocals for the song “Drop,” which was produced by Legendary Beatz. Legendary Beatz joined Wizkid‘s Starboy Entertainment on April 29, 2013.
The team produced the song “Caro” in 2013, which was a bonus track on Wizkid‘s second studio album Ayo (2014). The team collaborated to create “That Could Be Us” for Nigerian musician Ice Prince in 2014. Additionally, they collaborated with prominent African musicians including Banky W, Seyi Shay, and Efya.
They have garnered attention for their lengthy work with Wizkid during their career. Additionally, they are known for penning and producing a run of successful songs. Rappers including American rapper Wale, British rappers Tinie Tempah and Yxng Bane, Urbano Latino singers Bad Bunny and J Balvin, 2face, Ice Prince, Efya, Banky W, Seyi Shay, and Chidinma, among others, have all contributed vocals to the duo’s many songs.
