Oluwashina Akanbi Peters (born May 30, 1958), also known as Sir Shina Peters professionally, is a renowned and celebrated Nigerian afro juju singer, songwriter, and performing artist. He is frequently referred to as the oba of Nigerian music.

Early Life and Education
Emmanuel Adakun Peters and Victoria Asake Peters welcomed Sir Shina Peters into the world on May 30, 1958, in Ogun State, in the southwestern part of Nigeria.
He attended Ebenezer African Church School, ijoko-Ota in Ogun State for his primary education and Olivet Baptist Boys High School in Oyo, and later transferred to St. Peters School in Abeokuta for his secondary education.
Career
At the tender age of nine, Sir Shina Peters began his musical career by singing with his twelve brothers in their native tongue and attending various music festivals throughout his State while going by the stage name Olushina. At the age of 19, he joined Ebenezer Obey’s band after learning how to play the guitar and piano on his own.
After making history and breakthrough with Ebenezer Obey, he further joined General Prince Adekunle’s band as a guitar player who played in almost all of the elites society and prestigious hotels in Lagos such as Western hotel, Palm Beach and Executive hotel and sometimes took over Adekunle’s role as a lead singer whenever he feels sick.
He later left the General Prince Adekunle band to form a band recognized as Shina Adewale with his brother Segun Adewale. The two went separate ways after releasing many albums in 1980, out of which the way to freedom is part. He further formed his own band called Sir Shina Peters and his International Stars.
Shina Peters released his debut studio album (afro juju series 1), Ace, in 1989. An album produced by Laolu Akins under CBS Records of Nigeria, of which Ijo Shina was the finest track and was very popular, followed by Shinamania in 1990, which was the best seller.
He had singles such as Oluwa Yo Pese, Omo Bo, and Give Our Woman a Chance. Shina Peters had sold millions of albums worldwide in the likes of South Africa, Europe, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, and the United States of America. He remains the most regarded producer of respected music that has existed in its class to date and is currently signed to Orbit Entertainment, a US agency based in New York.
His exceptional flow of songs, beats, rhythm, and rhymes have earned him multiple awards, uniqueness, contracts, various international recognition, and endorsement deals.
Sir Shina Peters featured in a Nollywood movie produced by Ola Balogun tagged MONEY POWER in 1982 and has released more than fifteen (15) albums so far. He is well known and respected in the music industry.
Personal Life
Sir Shina Peters is a Christian who is married to a Nigerian Nollywood actress, Clarion Chukwura, who comes from Anambra State, with whom he had eyes on ever since he joined the Nollywood industry. The couple gave birth to a son (Clarence Peter) who is a Nigerian award-winning music video director and also the elder brother to Yomi Peters, a Nigerian musician based in the United States.
He later married Sammie Ayoka Peters in 1983 and their union is blessed with children named Seyi Peters and Clinton Peters.
Controversy
The veteran juju singer Sir Shina Peters once has an argument with the late Funmi Martins (the mother of actress Mide Martins) who died in 2002 over the allegation of an abandoned son she bore for him named Oluwadamilare.
