In celebration of Nigeria’s 62nd Independence Day, President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated at least 437 people for the National Honours Award, featuring numerous personalities from all over the Nigerian working sector, which include 5 Grand Commanders of the Order of the Niger (GCON), 54 Commanders of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), 67 Commanders of the Order of the Niger (CON), 64 Officers of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), 101 Officers of the Order of the Niger (OON), 75 Members of the Order of the Federal Republic Medal (FRM), and 8 recipients of the Federal Republic Medal (FRM),
The entertainment industry was not exempted from such great honours, which was unprecedented. The industry got mentions and was represented by top personalities such as Burna Boy, the Grammy-winning Afrobeat star; 2face Baba, the afrobeat icon and a multiple-award winner; and Teni, the singing artist.
Burna Boy
Damini Ebunoluwa (born on July 2, 1991), popularly known as Burna Boy, was born and raised in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. Burna Boy is a Nigerian singer, record producer, and songwriter. He gained fame after releasing his recorded song “Like to Party,” the lead single from his debut studio album, L.I.F.E., in 2012, and ever since then, he has dropped different intrinsic songs and won various Grammy awards both within and outside Nigeria.
2face Idibia
2Face Baba (born September 18, 1975), whose real name is Innocent Ujah Idibiai, was born in Jos, Nigeria. He is from the Idoma ethnic group in the southern part of Benue State in central Nigeria. 2Face Baba is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, producer, humanitarian, activist, businessman, and philanthropist. He is widely accepted as one of the most prominent Nigerian musicians. In 2005, 2Face Baba was the first African winner in the MTV EMA Best African Act category and also one of the most celebrated musicians from Nigeria in history.
Teni
Teniola Apata (born December 23, 1992), professionally known as Teni, was raised in Lagos State. She is Niniola‘s younger sister, a Nigerian singer. Teni is a Nigerian entertainer, singer, and songwriter. She attained triumph after releasing her top hit singles “Askamaya,” “Case,” and “Uyo Meyo.” In 2018, “Askamaya” came in at number 15 on MTV Base’s list of the Top 20 Hottest Naija Tracks.
