Early Life and Education
Chidi Mokeme was born on 17 March 1972 in Anambra State, Nigeria. At Salvation Primary School in Surulere, Lagos, the actor started his primary school education. He received his West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE) after attending the Federal Government College in Mina, Niger State.
Mokeme studied at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, where he earned a National Diploma in Computer Science Technology before moving on to the Yaba College of Technology for a Higher National Diploma. He decided to go in, follow his passion, and completely embrace acting while completing his Higher National Diploma.
Career
In 1998, Chidi started a career in modelling. He represented several brands in the marketplace as part of his work. He collaborated with a number of well-known companies, including the well-known telecommunications firm Vodafone. Chidi debuted in Nollywood in 2003. He has since appeared in more than 100 Nigerian films.
Chidi is one of the few versatile Nigerian actors who are quite proficient in Yoruba, Hausa and his native dialect of Igbo, which are to his credit for his achievements as an actor. He is now such a versatile actor because of this quality that he has appeared in many kinds of movies. He has appeared in numerous Yoruba and Igbo films.
In the early 1990s, Nollywood dramas featured Mokeme in some of her first significant appearances. His filmography includes such titles as “Goodbye Tomorrow,” “Igodo,” “Visa To Hell,” “Secret Goldmine,” “My Story,” “Omotara Johnson,” “Armageddon King,” and “Hitch,” among others.
In the 2019 drama, Pillars of Africa, Mokeme co-starred with Hakeem Kae Kazeem from Hollywood. Sola Sobowale and other well-known actors appeared in the film as well. A well-deserved “best actor in an independent film award” was given to Mokeme at the 2021 Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards for the movie, which was released in 2021.
With his performance as Scar in Dimeji Ajibola’s “Shanty Town”, which included Richard Mofe-Damijo, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Ini Edo, Sola Sobowale, and others in ensemble roles, Mokeme struck gold once more in 2021. The movie is expected to be a huge hit and will make Mokeme a popular box office draw, according to experts.
Mokeme starred in the indie drama Half Heaven in January 2022. The film was shot in Douala, Cameroon. Mokeme portrays a villain who has committed many murders but is on the run from the cops.
The outstanding actor is also a reality show host. After hosting the first two seasons of the Gulder Ultimate Search, he gained notoriety. He now presents the Amazon Prime programme “The Therapist.”
Personal Life
On April 28, 2012, Chidi Mokeme married Dr Jean Chinwe Olumba. His wife works as a doctor and a pharmacist. She is a resident of the United States. His nuptials took place at Our Saviour’s Church in Lagos’ Tafawa Balewa Square.
In 2015, we saw the birth of Noah Mokeme, the son of Chidi Mokeme and his wife. The actor’s adult son, Emem Daniel Mokeme, was already in existence and was the product of a prior relationship between Chidi and a journalist named Adia Ukoyen.
Given that his wife lives abroad and the actor is stationed in Nigeria, many have questioned whether Chidi Mokeme’s family is together amicably. Nevertheless, since they keep their personal affairs confidential, one cannot infer anything about them until they directly mention it.
Chidi Mokeme’s Car Accident
There was concern in August 2015 that the outstanding actor had just survived a fatal vehicle accident. Online images of him showed him in the hospital looking severely hurt and defenceless. But soon it was revealed that Chidi had not actually been in an accident. The images were taken earlier in the same year on the set of a movie.
