Early Life and Education
Wanjiku Kimani popularly known as Femi One was born on 25 April 1994 in Mwiki, Kasarani, Nairobi. She hailed from the Gikuyu tribe in Central Kenya.
She went to primary school in Nairobi and attended Gakarara Secondary school. She had plans to go back to school to pursue a course in media.
Femi one is one of the most talented female rappers in Kenya. She has been pushing her career gradually until she was featured by King Kaka in his major hit ‘Ligi Soo’ the remix. Femi One appeared in the song with other female rappers.
That was the major breakthrough of her career. She was signed to Kaka Empire, a record label owned and managed by King kaka.
Femi One and Mejja released a song titled ‘Utawezana’. The song was widely accepted and received positive reviews, which is a club banger.
On May 31, 2021, she released her first album titled Greatness. The album consists of 14 tracks that feature artists from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Zambia.
Most of her songs were sung in Swahili and Sheng languages, which hit both locally and internationally. Some of them include Lukuluku, Brikicho, Tippytoe remix, Usiku Mchana, Pilau Njeri, Baddest, D-Day, Nyokonyoko, Tembe, Hiyo One, and Utawezana.
In 2021, Femi One became the first African female brand ambassador for Monster Energy Drink.
