Early Life and Education
Shaydee was born on September 21, 1987, in the ancient city of Kano, Kano State, in the northern part of Nigeria. Shaydee is the second child of four children. He was a young boy when his family moved from Kano to Lagos.
He had his primary and secondary school education in Lagos State, Nigeria, before moving to Kogi State to further his education. After completing his IJMB at Kogi State Polytechnic, he proceeded to Ilorin and completed his Electrical Engineering degree at the University of Ilorin.
Career
Shaydee started singing with a classmate in high school after moving from Kano to Lagos. He entered into a recording agreement with Cackland Records in 2010, and subsequently released a number of tracks, including “Love Me Like U Used 2” and “Hands in the Air.” Shaydee was a featured artist on the song “Pain” by MI off his mixtape Illegal Music II in April 2012.
Shaydee secured a recording contract with Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment on June 11, 2012, which aided in the advancement of his career. He frequently receives credit for writing and featuring songs from the 2012 compilation album Empire Mates State of Mind by EME. Since then, among others, Shaydee has collaborated with Ice Prince, Seyi Shay, Skales, Cynthia Morgan, and Legendary Beatz. On November 16, 2013, Shaydee and Wizkid released “Won Gbo Mi,” a freestyle that was produced by Legendury Beatz. The song “Won Gbo Mi” was well-liked by music critics and fans alike, reaching the top of the nation’s regional music charts. Jassy Generation, the director of the music video, had the song recorded in Lagos. On June 11, 2014, it premiered on the video-sharing platform, YouTube.
Shaydee inked an endorsement agreement with Metro Cab, a taxi firm with a base in Nigeria, on September 10, 2014. Shaydee’s track “High,” which was released on March 18, 2015, garnered him a nomination for The Headies Award, 2015. At the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards, Shaydee was also up for “Best R&B Artist of the Year.” In 2016, Shaydee released SOS, his debut studio album.
