Early Life and Education

Joy Kendi was born on September 22, 1988, in Kenya. She moved to the United States with her family when she was 6 years old, and relocated back to Kenya in 2009.

She attended both primary and high school in the United States before proceeding to United States International University, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

Career

Joy Kendi had created an interest in fashion since she was a teen. She wanted to be a fashionista and applied for many scholarship offers, but none was given to her and, since she is less privileged, she had to come up with an idea.

She took her friend to Changing Times for auditions but later ended up landing a role as a cast member. This paved the way for her and she was an upcoming blogger then. Joy quit after six months and focused on blogging to elaborate on fashion and beauty.

Influences from people like Casey Neistat, Karla Dera, Jenna Marbles, Philip DeFranco, etc. also helped her fashion career. She is the face of an international fashion brand called Hi-design.

She has a YouTube channel where she shares tips about fashion and beauty, this channel has helped many people on their fashion journey.

In 2020, Joy Kendi launched her own fashion brand, named Itikadi. The fashion line produced gorgeous Palazzo pants and comfy kimonos.
