Early Life and Education
Kabza De Small was born on November 27, 1992, and raised in Mpumalanga before his family relocated to Pretoria, where he attended high school in the city.
Kabza De Small didn’t focus well on his studies but rather majorly on his passion for music, and he invested his time to build his talent.
Career
In 2009, Kabza De Small started his music career and was assigned to Tyrique de Bruyne, and Bestbyfar Records made him publish his first debut album, “Avenuee Sound,” in 2016. Later on, In 2018, he founded PianoHub, his own record company and he released his breakout song “Umshove,” with South African vocalist Leehleza.
On October 1, 2019, Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa released Piano Hub. In South Africa, The Extended Play received a 3-platinum certification, and on November 29, 2019, The Return of Scorpion Kings was made available. It was later announced on January 20, 2020, that Scorpion King Live would take place on April 11 at Sun Arena in Pretoria’s Times Square, but due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the concert was cancelled and rescheduled for August 9.
On June 26, 2020, Kabza De Small released his studio album I Am the King of Amapiano: “Sweet & Dust,” which gained double platinum in South Africa. Later in December 2020, Spotify ranked Kabza De Small as the most streamed South African musician. In that same month, the joint studio album Rumble in the Jungle was announced by Kabza, and the lead single, “Funu,” featuring Tresor, an Afro-pop musician, was released in February 2021. Later, on April 9, 2021, Kabza de Small, DJ Maphorisa, and Tresor released “Rumble in the Jungle,” regarded as a joint studio album.
In June 2021 Kabza De Small was rated at number 18 on Forbes Africa’s 30 under 30 lists and in the following month, he was profiled for his musical career in Rolling Stone magazine
Kabza and DJ Maphorisa released “Abalele” on September 27, featuring Ami Faku, a South African singer, and the song debuted at number one on the official South African Music chart and number four on the Spotify charts.
On his Instagram page, he made the announcement of his forthcoming album KOA II Part 1 in early January 2022. On April 22, 2022, his studio EP “Ziwangale” was made available.
On the South African iTunes music charts, its first track, “Ziwa Ngale,” which features DJ Tira, DJ Exit SA, Beast, Mshunqisi, Young Stunna, and Felo Le Tee, peaked at number one.
His other three tracks, “Ebusuku” featuring Nkosazana Daughter, “Kabza” featuring Murumba Pitch, and “Mak’shoni” Langa” featuring DJ Maphorisa, Murumba Pitch, and Da Muziqal Chef, are positioned at numbers 7, 12, and 26 respectively on the iTunes music chart.
As part 1 of his album, Kabza De Small, released 6 singles on 31 May; “Khusela” featuring Msaki, “Bathini” featuring Young Stunna and Artwork Sounds, and “Isoka” featuring Nkosazana Daughter and Murumba Pitch.
On June 16, 2022, KOA II Part 1 (called “King of Amapiano 2 Part 1”) was made public, and also, “Khusela” reached number one on the Apple Music rankings, and the album debuted at number 11 on the iTunes top 100 charts.

Kabza De Small is in a relationship with his anonymous lover, a journalist, and they are both expecting a child.
