Early Life & Education
Muiz Banire was born on the 6th of October, 1966, in Lagos State, which falls in southwestern Nigeria. He grew up in Lagos State, where he had his primary and secondary education. Muiz Banire went further to the University of Lagos, where he earned his LLB, Masters, and Doctorate in Law. He specializes in developing alternative legal frameworks for land management in Nigeria.
Professional Career
Before being admitted to the bar in 1989, Banire completed his required youth service with the Legal Aid Council and was later posted to Gani Fawehinmi Chambers. In 1995, he founded his firm, M.A. Banire and Associates. From 1991 to 2010, he taught private and property law as a Senior Lecturer of Law at the University of Lagos. But in 2007, he was appointed as the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment during the administration of Lagos State’s former governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola.
In 2015, he was promoted to the position of Senior Advocate of Nigeria(SAN) and made a Bencher. In 2017, he was chosen to serve as a member of the National Judicial Council. Muiz Banire was appointed as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) in 2018.
