Brian Oladapo Idowu (born May 18, 1992) is a professional footballer from Nigeria who plays as a left-back for the Russian club Khimki and the Nigeria national team, Super Eagles.

Early Life

Brian Idowu was born in Saint Petersburg on the 18th of May, 1992 to a Nigerian father and a Russian-Nigerian mother. Idowu moved to Owerri, Nigeria at an early age, and later moved back to Russia.

Career

Professional Career

On May 6, 2012, FC Amkar Perm’s Brian Idowu made his Russian Premier League debut against FC Terek Grozny.

Idowu signed a new three-year contract with Amkar on June 30, 2014, after spending the 2013–14 season on loan with Dynamo St. Petersburg. He renewed his contract in February 2017 through the summer of 2020. He agreed to a three-year contract with FC Lokomotiv Moscow on July 10, 2018.

Brian Idowu signed up for Khimki on loan on August 7, 2020, for the 2020–21 campaign. He moved permanently to Khimki on June 7, 2021, and entered into a 2-year contract with a 1-year extension option.

International Career

Idowu was invited to the Nigerian national team in November 2017 for an exhibition match against Argentina in Krasnodar on November 14. On November 14, Idowu made his international debut against Argentina, replacing Ola Aina at halftime, and scored Nigeria’s third goal in a 4-2 victory. He was included in Nigeria’s initial 23-man roster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia in May of that year.
