Professional Career
Isaac Success began his career by frequently playing for the local side BJ Foundation Academy. Success and Udinese reached an agreement in November 2013 for a five-year, €400,000 contract that would begin in January 2014. However, he wasn’t given a work permit until March of the following year. He then enlisted in the Granada CF and was given a reserve position in Segunda División B.
Success made his first-team debut against Elche FC on August 31, 2014, starting the game at the age of 18 years, and 7 months, making him the club’s youngest player to play in a La Liga game.
On December 7, he scored his first goal as a professional, scoring his team’s lone goal in a home tie with Valencia. Success extended his contract with the team on August 7, 2015, signing a contract that would last through 2019, and was subsequently promoted to the starting lineup.
In a record-breaking transfer from Granada on July 1, 2016, Success signed a five-year contract with Watford for an estimated £12.5 million. In 19 appearances during the 2016–17 season, he scored once. On January 31, 2018, he was loaned to Malaga after making just one appearance during the 2017–18 campaign. Success signed a three-year contract with the Italian team Udinese on August 26, 2021.
International Career
Success was selected to play for Nigeria’s under-17 team in 2013 and was also given the vice-captaincy. He participated in the first two games, but an injury kept him out for the remainder of the competition. In October 2016, Success received his first call-up to the senior Nigerian team ahead of a matchup with Zambia in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier. Success made his Nigerian debut on March 23, 2017, at The Hive Stadium in London.
