Early Life and Education
Bose Omolayo was born on February 1, 1989, in the southwestern part of Nigeria.
Career
At the age of 15, Bose began working as a hairdresser in Lagos, Nigeria, and later opened her own salon. She subsequently made the decision in 2012 to concentrate on developing a para powerlifting career. In Tokyo, Japan, for the 2020 Summer Paralympics, she took first place in the women’s 79 kg competition. At the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships, which were held in Tbilisi, Georgia, a few months later, she took first place in her division. She also achieved a new weight-lifting record of 144 kg at this competition.
She competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, where she earned a silver medal in the women’s +61 kg competition. At the 2022 Commonwealth Games, she won a silver medal in the women’s heavyweight category.
Personal Life
Bose’s impairment is a result of the effects of polio. She also regarded former Nigerian Para powerlifter Victoria Nneji as the most influential person in her career.
