Early Life and Education
Jaywon was born on June 6, 1986, in Egbe Mekun, popularly called Egbe, a historic town located in the Yagba West local government area of Kogi State, Nigeria, West Africa. He had his primary education at ECWA Primary School and his secondary education at the Government Secondary School in Kogi State before graduating with an HND in Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State.
Career
He started his music sojourn in 2005 when he relocated to Lagos, and he worked with prominent singers such as “Ray G,” “Sound Sultan,” “W4“, “Slizzy E,” and “2face.”
In 2009, he was given the prospect to sing at the Kennis Music Easter Fiesta, and he made such an impression that the event’s organisers took an interest in him and signed a record deal with the company.
In 2012, he dropped a song titled “This Year” (Odun Yi), which brought him to the spotlight. with both commercial and critical acclaim. Later, PZ Cusson signed an endorsement agreement with him that let the business use his well-known song, “This Year,” for advertising purposes.
Going independent, he later released another album titled “Oba Orin‘ which translates to “King of Songs’ in the Yoruba language. Oba Orin’ is an album embedded with 21 tracks whose production credits include Mr Ejor, “Benjossy,” “Blaq Jerzey,” and “Young Jonn.”
Likewise in 2014, he premiered the remix for “Madantin” featuring “Phyno,” “Olamide,” and “May D” under the Next World Music imprint, then followed up with “Tanawole,” featuring Reminisce, weeks later.
He also worked with rapper Vector Tha Viper on “Back to Sender.”
On June 25, 2020, Jaywon releases his ten-track album titled Aje (The Mixtape). It features vocals from Save Fame, a new signee for Next World Music, as well as Zlatan, Lyta, Barry Jhay, Phyno, Magnito, IDYL, Danny S, Qdot, Keke Ogungbe, DMC Ladida, Alijiita, and Umu Obiligbo, among others. and iRockClassic, Blaq Jerzee, Soularge, Don Adah, Tefa, Phynest, and Xsmile, gaining credit for the album.
