Early Life & Education
Waje was born on the 1st of September, 1980, in Akure, Ondo State, which falls in the Southwestern part of Nigeria. Her parent relocated to Benin City after her birth, which made her grow up in Benin where she had both her primary and secondary school education. Her parent later got separate ways when she was still young, and this made her experience a very difficult life while she was young.
Waje became pregnant while taking her secondary certificate exams in her last year of high school. It was not until five months into the pregnancy that she informed her mother. She was momentarily prohibited from performing in the church choir due to her unmarried status.
She enthralled the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa by singing gospel songs, and he was so taken with her voice that he decided to support her throughout her entire secondary school years. Later, Waje moved to Nsukka to enroll in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where she graduated with a degree in social work. She made performances at school concerts and fellowships while she was a student at the university. To hone her skill, she listened to artists like Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin.

Waje started her career when she was at the University of Nigeria. Her vocal range covers a music interval of eight tones. She officially launched her music career in 2007. She had an appearance on the popular P-Square song “Do Me” in 2008. In various regions of Europe and Africa, this song was well-known. . She came in second at the Advanced Warning reality TV show competition which was put on by MTV Base South Africa and Zain Nigeria. That was when she started gaining wide recognition.
Waje has performed on stage alongside musicians like Wyclef Jean in South Africa while opening for Kerry Hilson at a concert held in Calabar. She has also collaborated with musicians who have had big singles, including M.I. and P-Square on “One Naira” and “Do Me,” respectively. She and Dencia worked together on the song “True Love,” and she has songs that have been nominated and won awards. 2013 saw the release of her debut studio album under her own given title, Words Aren’t Just Enough (WAJE).
In the 2014 movie Tunnel, Waje made her acting debut alongside Femi Jacobs, Patrick Doyle, Nse Ikpe-Etim, and Lepacious Bose. The life of a young preacher is the main subject of Stanlee Ohikhuare’s film.
She debuted the music video for “Coco Baby,” a song with Diamond Platnumz’s assistance, in November 2014. Waje appeared in the Somkele Idhalama-directed film She Is in April 2019. She collaborated with Omawumi to record the soundtrack for the film. She collaborated with Zoro, another Nigerian rapper, to release the song “Ngwa” in December 2019. The song, which was created by Philkeyz, has a ballad-like sound.
