The umpire and electoral body in charge of conducting elections in Nigeria, which is the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), released the final list of eligible candidates to vie for the post of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Tuesday, September 20th, 2022, alongside their Vice Presidential candidates and other biodata to the public.
In a news release, Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, stated this. Following the conclusion of the nomination process and the conclusion of the political party primaries, the list was published in accordance with “section 32(1) of the Electoral Act 2022 and item 8 of the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2023 General Election.”
Notable and, expectedly, among the names released are Omoyele Sowore (AAC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu (APC), Peter Obi (LP), and Atiku Abubakar (PDP), among others.
The list, comprising 18 political parties and presidential candidates for the 2023 presidential election, is below.
