Early Life and Education
Nzubechi was born on April 7, 2001, in Nigeria. She had her elementary and secondary school education before going abroad for her university education.
Career
Nzubechi set a new personal best time for the 100 metres in 2021 of 11.09, making her the first Nigerian athlete to have qualified for the postponed 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She also triumphed in the 100-meter event at Benin’s National Sports Festival. She ran a new personal best time of 11.0 seconds in her 100-meter heat at the 2020 Summer Olympics in athletics to advance to the semi-finals.
She finished sixth in the 100- and 200-meter finals of the NCAA competition in 2022. At the 2022 World Athletics Championships, she competed in the 100- and 200-meter races, reaching the semifinals in both. She also prevailed in the 100-meter race at the Nigerian National Championships.
Nzubechi won a gold medal in the 4 x 100m race alongside her colleagues at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Her other colleagues in Team Nigeria are Favour Ofili, Tobi Amusan, Chukwuma Rosemary, and Udo Joy Gabriel Chinenye.
