Omoyeni Anikulapo-Kuti (born May 24, 1961), popularly known as Yeni Kuti or YK is a dancer, entrepreneur, singer, and TV personality. She is an ancestor of the Ransome-Kuti family. Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, an advocate for women’s rights in Nigeria, was her grandma. Felabration, a music event created to honour the legacy and accomplishments of her late father Fela Kuti in Nigerian society, was the brainchild of Yeni Kuti.

Early Life and Education
Yeni Kuti was born on May 24, 1961, in England, the United Kingdom, to afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti, and a British mother before moving back to Nigeria at the age of 2. She had her primary and secondary school education in Lagos State, Nigeria before proceeding to study journalism at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism in Lagos State.
She quit her work as a fashion designer in 1986 and became a vocalist and dancer in Femi’s band. Together with her brother, Femi Kuti, she co-manages the New Afrika Shrine at the moment.
